Smith, the fifth victim of the shooting, died at 2:17 a.m. The Navy did not release the victim’s, although he was identified as Smith by multiple sources and news outlets. The shooter, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, targeted two different military facilities in Chattanooga on Thursday.
Four U.S. Marines — Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, Sgt. Carson Holmquist and Lance Cpl. Squire Wells — died the day of the attack. Smith and two others were injured, while the gunman was killed at the scene.
